My experience with a Night Terror
In 2015, I had a terrifying night terror. I sleepwalked and believed there was a bug crawling in my ear, which made me fear imminent death (similar to an episode in Star Trek Wrath of Khan). Filled with terror, I screamed and rushed to the bathroom, attempting to use tweezers to remove the "bug." When I woke up, I found the tweezers in my hand and my ear bleeding. I felt overwhelmed and frightened.
Determined to understand and prevent such experiences in the future, I stayed up researching night terrors and stumbled upon the Emotion Code method. This approach aims to release trapped emotions from past trauma, helping to prevent recurring night terrors. Intrigued, I purchased Dr. Bradley Nelson's book on the Emotion Code and read it in its entirety that evening.
The section on night terrors deeply resonated with me:
"In another case, a 42 year-old patient named Carol had suffered from night terrors nearly all her life. Her screams of terror would awaken her husband and children at least three nights every week! Night terrors differ from nightmares in that they don’t seem to be caused by a specific dream. Instead, a specific and very frightening emotion is felt while the victim is asleep.
Her night terrors had been a major problem for most of her life. She had broken both collar bones, multiple ribs and had even sustained a skull fracture due to her flailing attempts to escape her terrorizing dream-state.
Her subconscious mind responded affirmatively to my simple question, “Is there a trapped emotion that is causing your night terrors?” A little further testing revealed that emotions of panic, terror and fear had become trapped in her body when she was five years old, during a short period when she was experiencing a recurring nightmare. The nightmare was long since gone, but the trapped emotions remained.
The result of releasing these trapped emotions was that within one week the night terrors were gone for good, and did not return."
After one Emotion Code session on myself, I released several emotions. Encouraged by this progress, I sought the help of certified practitioner Juliana Allen, whom I highly recommend. In our first session, Juliana successfully released over 40-50 emotions and continued working on multiple areas throughout subsequent sessions. Since then, I have not experienced another night terror.
What is the Emotion Code Method?
The Emotion Code is a therapeutic technique developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson. It is based on the premise that unresolved emotions can become trapped in the body, leading to physical and emotional imbalances. According to the Emotion Code theory, these trapped emotions can disrupt the natural flow of energy in the body and contribute to various issues such as pain, disease, and emotional distress.
The Emotion Code utilizes muscle testing or kinesiology to identify and release these trapped emotions. Practitioners use a chart that lists different emotions and ask specific questions to determine which emotions are trapped. Once identified, the practitioner uses a magnet or their hand to perform a simple technique called "The Emotion Code" to release the trapped emotion.
The goal of the Emotion Code is to identify and release trapped emotions, allowing the body's energy to flow freely, promoting physical and emotional well-being. Proponents of the Emotion Code believe that by releasing these trapped emotions, individuals can experience relief from physical ailments, emotional healing, and improved overall health and vitality.
It's important to note that the Emotion Code is considered an alternative or complementary therapy and its effectiveness is a subject of debate within the scientific community. While some people report positive experiences and benefits from using the Emotion Code, more research is needed to understand its mechanisms and validate its claims. It's always recommended to consult with a qualified healthcare professional before pursuing any alternative therapies.

My review of the Emotion and Body Code Therapy Method
The Emotion Code method may not be suitable for everyone, especially those seeking scientific research to support its effectiveness. However, after trying various traditional therapies with psychologists and psychiatrists, I found this method to be the most effective in understanding and addressing my emotions and their triggers. It successfully prevented recurring night terrors, and I felt confident enough to continue using it independently.
While the Emotion Code is beneficial for quick healing and supportive of existing physical issues, it does not specifically focus on developing positive mental health or essential skills for managing difficult emotions, effective communication, and conflict resolution. I also recommend going to actual doctors, if you are experiencing any physical pain or health issues.
I don't consider it the sole therapy I recommend. In my experience, the combination of acquiring skills in emotional management (such as Nonviolent Communication or art therapy) and working with a flexible psychotherapist like Noula Diamantopoulos, who tailors their approach and techniques to my specific needs, has been the most effective approach thus far.
